Cull photos on your Mac at keyboard speed
Rate, pick and reject hundreds of photos without touching the mouse, then hand off only the keepers. Zoomosaic works directly on your folders: no import, no catalog.
Culling is about speed and comparison. Zoomosaic shows the whole shoot at once, so you can see sequences, bursts and near-duplicates together. Then it lets you focus on one photo with everything else dimmed and decide with a single key.
Because it reads folders directly, there is nothing to import and nothing to clean up afterwards. Marks are saved per file and come back whenever you reopen the folder.
A culling pass in five steps
- Drop the shoot folder onto Zoomosaic. JPEG, HEIC and camera RAW files all open.
- Sort by File Name to follow camera order, or group by Similar Sets to put bursts side by side.
- Select the first photo and press Space to focus it. Use ← → to step through and ⌘1 to check sharpness at actual pixels.
- Press P to pick, X to reject, 1–5 to rate and 6–9 for color labels. ⌘Z undoes any mark.
- Filter to Picked, select all and choose Copy to Folder…, or export a review CSV for your client or team.
Tips
- Rejected photos are dimmed on the canvas, so you can see at a glance what's left.
- Press [ and ] to jump between groups, such as similar sets or folders.
- Choose a neutral canvas background in Settings › Canvas so surroundings don't bias exposure and color.
Questions and answers
Does Zoomosaic open RAW files?
Yes. It uses the camera RAW support built into macOS, so any RAW format your Mac can preview opens in Zoomosaic.
Are ratings written into my files or XMP sidecars?
No. Marks are stored in Zoomosaic's own data on your Mac and your files are never modified. Use the review CSV or Copy to Folder to carry results into other tools.
Does it replace Lightroom or Capture One?
No. There is no editing and no catalog. Zoomosaic is for the fast first pass: see everything, decide, and pass on only the photos worth editing.
